Last Day of School

            The last day of school will be Wednesday, June 6, with a 10:30 a.m. dismissal. 

 

Hot Lunch Credits

If your child has a lunch credit at the end of the school year that amount will be applied toward next year’s lunches.  If you prefer a refund, please contact the office so you can pick the refund up before June 15th.  Refunds will be given to all 5th graders who do not have a younger sibling in our building.

 

2007-2008 Registration Material

          All 2007-2008 registration papers will be included with your child’s report card.  This will give you time during the summer to fill them out and have them ready to either mail back to WES in August or drop off at walk-in registration.  Walk-in registration will be held on Tuesday, August 14 from

noon–4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. and also on Wednesday, August 15 from 8 a.m. to noon.

 

Report Cards

            Report cards will be issued on the last day of school.  Any student owing for lunches (lunch charge slips will get handed out on Tuesday), registration fees, assignment book, library book, or any other fees will not receive their report card until the fee is paid.

 

Library News

          Thank you to Mrs. Witzig for donating the following books to the library:  Chowder, Christmas in the Trenches, and A Flag for Their Father.

 

5th Grade Science Fair

            The 5th grade science fair was held on Monday, June 4 from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.. Good job 5th graders! 

The fifth grade classes would like to thank The Bait Shop in Shabbona for donating worms for the 5th grade fishing trip to Shabbona Lake.

Spelling Bee    

          We had our annual Spelling Bee on Friday, June 1.  The following students qualified from their class:

Mrs. Smith’s Kindergarten:  Brendan Fritz, Mattison Gauger, Eve Virgin, and Jocelyn Cluff

Mrs. Hardenbergh’s First Grade: Nicole Diaz, Cody Kuesis, Justin Berkeland, and Ethan Johanningsmeier

Mrs. Foster’s and Mrs. Kula’s Second Grades: Renee Corriveau, Grace Leeney, Anna McComb, and Olin Simpson

Mrs. Lovett’s Third Grade – Krystal DeMarco, Madison Russell, Alexis VanWyhe, and Olivia Monteiro

Mrs. Faivre’s Fourth Grade: Rylie Schreck, Olivia Elliot, Winston Simpson, and Ben Roberts

Mrs. Mokry’s and Miss Spencer’s Fifth Grades: Katelyn Fredrickson, Jessica Voss, Taylor Johnson, and Jenni Fredrickson

The primary finalists were, Olin Simpson and Grace Leeney with Grace winning by spelling the word “farewell”.  The intermediate finalists were Katelyn Fredrickson, Jessica Voss and Taylor Johnson with Taylor taking top prize by spelling the word “trek”.  Congratulations to all the students who qualified.


Smiles Running Club

School Beautification

Mandarin Chinese Language Class

Students will study the basic Chinese language spoken in China.

Waterman Summer Fest

            Kid’s activities will take place at Lion’s Park on July 21 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Activities include:

Ident-A-Kid, crafts, games, balloons, air tunnel, bean bag toss, pedal pull tractors, train rides, petting zoo, etc.

GED Classes

            Do you or does someone you know need a GED?  Kishwaukee College is offering FREE GED review classes for area residents in Waterman at the Presbyterian Church in Waterman starting June 18 from 6:00-8:05 p.m.  Classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday. You do not have to pre-register; just show up during the scheduled times.

 

Olympic Day

            Olympic Day was held on Friday, June 1.  It was a beautiful day and the students enjoyed showing their athletic abilities.

            We would like to thank the wonderful volunteers of all ages who helped keep the events running smoothly.  Also, thank you to the EPC for providing an ice cream treat to end the day.

EPC Officers Correction

          The slate of officers nominated for the 2007-2008 school year were as follows:

The above-mentioned slate of officers were elected at the May, 2007 meeting.

Major kudos to Tammy Agler who has stepped up as our Market Day chairperson for 2007-2008.

          Parents, if your child has medication stored in the office, please pick it up by the last day of school.

 

A HUGE THANK YOU FOR DONATIONS!

            WES would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Lisa Hauck and her family and Mrs. Leigh Marchiorello and her family for each

donating large color television sets that allow whole classes to easily view and enjoy audio-visual presentations.

            Additionally, we would like to thank the EPC for their donation of a new a/v cart and DVD/VCR combination player.

          Students who earned tickets will receive them with their final report cards.
