Dear Parents/Guardians,
In music class, we will be actively involved in a wonderful variety of musical experiences. I have the following expectations to help us learn and enjoy as much as possible!
EXPECTATIONS
CONSEQUENCES
SEVERE CONSEQUENCE
(For behavior that harms another student) Removal to "time out" area until teacher can talk with student
"GOOD STUFF"
AWESOME BEHAVIOR
Child will share it with principal or classroom teacher
The students will be evaluated in these three areas for their grade in music: standard written assessment(tests with predetermined answers), performance assessment, and behavior. Please be aware that music grades are given twice a year because I see the children about one hour each week.
In music class, children will have the opportunity to share a musical activity, other than just listening to a CD, with their music class on on some of the days I have them be a music "helper". They will have several turns to do this during the year and I will tell them ahead of time. If they forget, they will have the next music time to make it up. I am looking for performances which might include: playing an instrument, singing a song, doing a dance, moving to a rhythmic chant, sharing a music related book, article, or printed program from a concert they attended and/or bringing in a talented relative to demonstrate a musical interest. I would like to invite any parents/guardians to the classroom to share their love of music. This could be anything from showing us your record collection, teaching us a song with sign language or playing a duet with your child for their class. Please contact me if you are at all interested.
If the students would like to bring in a favorite CD that is appropriate for classroom listening, they may do that on CD/Game day. I will announce the date to the entire class. Since participation is an important part of music class, they will receive credit for their sharing efforts. Please call me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jacobson
