What is E.P.C.?
(Elementary Parent Club)

What?

Similar to a P.T.A. ®, The Waterman Elementary Parent Club is an organization that meets monthly during the school year to support a positive educational environment, to supplement programs and activities and to provide additional equipment and materials for the school or classrooms through fundraising efforts.

Who?

ALL parents of Waterman Elementary School Students are members as well as staff, faculty, administration and any citizen of the school district who exhibits an interest in the objectives of the Waterman E.P.C. There are no dues or membership fees.

Where?

Monthly meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Waterman Elementary School Library.Any changes will be listed in the school update.

What does the E.P.C. do?

The Elementary Parent Club sponsors many activities including American Education Week, Holiday Community Needs Drive, CCC Auction Committee Members, Teacher Appreciation Week and the Waterman Elementary Yearbook. We provide funds for school assemblies and accelerated reader materials as well as many other things.

How is the E.P.C. funded?

Our fundraisers include Market Day, and Box Tops for Education. We receive a portion of the CCC Auction profits as we help with this fundraiser. Our main fundraiser is the monthly Market Day. In November and December, we do a Fannie May Candy sale. We collect Campbell soup labels, Box Tops For Education and Nestle Drinking Water (Go Play) Labels. In addition, the CCC shares a percentage (10%) of their annual auction proceeds with us.

What is the difference between a “Room Parent” and an E.P.C. Parent Representative?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. A “room parent” helps in their child’s classroom as needed by the teacher. A parent who volunteers to be a parent representative coordinated healthy snacks and juice for fall and spring testing for the teacher. A parent representative also acts as a liaison between the teacher and the E.P.C. A parent could be both a “room parent” and a parent representative. The difference is where all parents are encouraged to attend E.P.C. meetings; parent representatives are expected to attend.

Why attend the E.P.C. meetings?

The E.P.C. needs you to be a part of our activities because you are one of the best people to make decisions about your child’s school environment. We all want the best for our kids and their school. Taking an active role in the E.P.C. is a great way to stay informed and help make things happen! We hope to see you at the E.P.C. meetings!
