Graduation Information
At the March 10, 2008 regular meeting of the Indian Creek Board of Education, the calendar for the 2007-2008 school year was amended to make the last student day of school to be June 6, 2008. The other amendment was to move eighth grade graduation from May 29, 2008 to Tuesday, June 3, 2008. These amendments were made to compensate for school days missed due to weather-related closings. We are sorry for any inconvenience that may have caused our middle school families.
Graduation letters that will provide needed information will be going
home this week. Students will have the opportunity to purchase some graduation
memorabilia that will be explained in the letter.
The eighth graders have some important events coming up as well as nine weeks
of classes that will prepare them for high school. We look forward to a strong
finish by all of our eighth graders who are looking forward to graduation
day.
Eighth Grade Updates
Mr. Malm would like to start
by correcting a misprint in the previous newsletter. The four individuals
who earned the Springfield Legislative Trip through the DeKalb County Farm
Bureau are Emilee Myers, Emily Bergstrand, Carole Fleetwood, and Deanna Francis.
Sorry for the misprint.
In the classroom…
Algebra is still solving problems such as polynomials and linear systems. Transition math is studying multiplication and division patters. On a side note… Mr. Waters, the current student teacher, will be finished with his duties as of April 18th. We wish him the best of luck and thanks for a job well done! Language Arts is delving into sentence complements and clauses as well as mastering short stories and tales. Science is have a great time forecasting the weather, especially with how our winter has gone so far. Lastly, Mr. Malm is into the Illinois Constitution and its history.
Further still…
The Kishwaukee Regional Bee took place on March 1st at Kishwaukee College. The bee featured the top verbal gladiators from the region (21 in all). Dana Duriavich and Andrea Corrveau did an outstanding job! Both worked hard to earn their placement at this event.
We just want to remind everyone that the Ozzie Game is fast approaching. It is scheduled for 6 P.M. on April 28th. It will be a great time!
Also, the Washington D.C. group would like to thank the C.C.C. for their gracious support in helping with the cost. Again, thank you!
Related to Washington D.C. trip fundraising, we are attempting to host a pork chop dinner through ICMS. Hopefully, it will take place near the end of May.
We hope everyone had a safe and happy break.
