BOYS BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

ICMS 2007 8th Grade Boys Basketball
The Indian Creek Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team received honors January 28th for its recently completed season. Team members receiving certificates include Matt Case, Shaq Crayton, Rick Cruise, Christian Deutsch, Josh Elliot, Dane Fleming, Andrew Hall, Ivan Harvell, Hank Hydel, John Jensky, Robert Johnson, Jared Landsteiner, Isaac Olson, Bret Ostrom, Caleb Penton, Alan Suiter, Gabe Warden, and Zach Woodbury. Emily Bergstrand, Anna Ostrander, and Taylor White did a great job of keeping track of statistics and doing the scorebook throughout the season. Cheerleaders, sponsored by Mrs. Frankel, consisted of Sydney Bend, Megan Drendel, Maddie Gatz, Claire Goodrich, Caroline Grundin, Katie LeRoy, Abby Moore, Emilee Myers, Margaret Revelorio, Alexa Sanchez, Sara Sanderson, Sara Schilling, and Deanne Winterton.

The team won the third place trophy of the IC Tip-off Classic, won 2 and lost 5 in Jr. Ten Conference play, and earned 6 wins versus 14 losses overall. The "B" team finished its season with a winning record of 3 and 2. Isaac Olson led the "B" team in scoring and rebounding, Jared Landsteiner had the most assists and best FG%, and Christian Deutsch and Hank Hydel tied for the most steals. A new "B" team record was set for most rebounds in a game with 32, and the team tied the fewest points allowed in a game record with 11. The "A" team was lead in scoring by Ivan Harvell (most points) and Bret Ostrom (best scoring average). Ivan also led the team in FT% and Bret led the team in steals and FG%. Zach Woodbury had the most rebounds and Shaq Crayton had the most assists. Individually, Bret Ostrom tied the most steals in a game record with 11 and the team tied the best FT% in a game record by making 80% of its free throws in one game. The entire team was recognized for most improved, Bret Ostrom won the "spirit" award, Dane Fleming earned the "hustle" award, and Josh Elliot and Alan Suiter shared the "sportsmanship" award. The team and coaches would like to express our appreciation and thanks to principal Paula Kennedy, AD Ehren Mertz, the IC Booster Club, and all parents and fans for your support and encouragement this season.

ICMS 2007 7th Grade Boys Basketball

The 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team at Indian Creek Middle School recently completed a very successful season. Their overall record of 12 wins and 6 losses earned them a second place finish with a 6-1 record in the Jr. 10 Conference, their best finish since 1998. Another highlight also came when they took home the second place trophy at the Plano Tournament, beating Earlville in overtime and Sandwich in the semi-finals, before losing to Hinkley-Big Rock in the Championship Game.

Overall, the team played great basketball and tough defense all season long. Team members include Jake Bjorneby, Aaron Bolton, Tyler Reynolds, Jaron Todd, Kyle Lieving, Justin Swanson, Mitch Lave, Jim Jensky, Jake Gullstrand, David Sroczynski, Trevor Anderson, Sam Agler, Stephen Dodd, Carlos Sanchez, Tyler Ostrom, Nick Zurick, Dillon Martenson, and Logan Lee. A special thanks goes out to Lindsey Craig and Lindsey Conley for managing this year and also to Mr. Scott McClure for coaching the team. He is extremely proud of all their accomplishments. Our wonderful cheerleaders also supported the team during every home game and deserve a special thank you. They were: Ellen Witte, Megan Malone, Virginia Fillicetti, Nicole Goodrich, Samantha Meredith, Abbi Feith, and Kayla Von Bergen. Mrs. Julie Frankel did an outstanding job coaching them this year!
