ICMS IS WILD ABOUT READING!!
It’s Spring , time for packing your camera and a good,
long novel for the road trip. Remember, we are still looking to get a picture
of yourself reading that long awaited novel in your favorite or most unusual
place. Then, we can put your picture on the “Reading in the Wildest
Places” wall. This is not just open to students; faculty and staff can
also have their picture placed on the wall. So grab your book and say, “Cheeeese!”
If you are wondering what to read during spring, just check out these titles!
Here are some award winners that you may not be aware of for the year 2008.
The 2008 Abe Lincoln Award goes to “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer.
The Abe Award is the students’ choice for top book in the high school,
young adult reads. The 2008 Caudill Award goes to “Drums, Girls, and
Dangerous Pie” by Jordan Sonnenblick. The Caudill Award is the students’
in the 4th through 8th grades top choice for top book of the year. We can’t
forget all those little brothers and sisters, so the Monarch Award goes to
“If I Built a Car” by Chris Van Dusen. The Monarch Award is the
elementary students’ choice of top book of 2008. Now, my personal favorite
of the month is “The Liberation of Gabriel King” by K. L. Going.
Just check these titles out at your favorite library or bookstore.
March is National Agriculture Month, and to celebrate, the DeKalb County Farm
Bureau has donated some wonderful ag books to our ICMS library. Some of the
titles are “The Super Soybean”, “All Around the Farm”,
“Cattle Kids: A Year on the Western Range”, and “Clarabelle:
Making Milk and So Much More”. Thank-you to the DeKalb County Farm Bureau
and their sponsors for keeping us informed on what agriculture does for our
community.
We are now at the start of our last quarter of the year. It is now time to
be thinking about getting your past due books in and paying your library fines.
Also, keep an eye out for all those lost books. Many times they are setting
in the classrooms or the lunchroom. Don’t wait till the last minute.
Let’s have a great finish to a good year!

Mrs. Goodrich
