Building Trades

This orientation-level course is designed to provide information on modern building methods, equipment, and materials. The student will be introduced to the care and use of construction power tools, and the processes of building a house from start to finish. During the semester plans, specifications, layout, and framing technology will be emphasized. Safety practices and workmanship will be stressed throughout the course.

As the year moves on the class will build an actual shed from plans for the people around the community. The students also visit construction companies in the area and see what it is really like to do this kind of work. In this class students are graded on quality of work and class participation.

Prerequisite: TEC101
