CONSUMER EDUCATION
PROFICIENCY TEST: The state of Illinois includes in the requirement
for high school graduation that students take and pass a course in consumer
education or pass the state consumer education proficiency test. This
is a difficult test and few students pass it, but those who do will
not need to have the course in their senior schedules. This Test will
be given on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Students may take the test
once during each school year until they are in consumer education class.
Students who are not currently enrolled in the class and who did not
take the October 2008 test are eligible as well.

• The University of Illinois at Springfield is offering

• The Dekalb Elks #765 is offering the 2009 Most Valuable Student
Scholarship to students in the Dekalb area. Please see Mr. Lindley for
an application and visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars for complete details.
The deadline for this scholarship is January 9, 2009.
• The Illinois AMVETS is offering variety scholarship opportunities
to students in Illinois. Please visit www.ilamvets.org for additional
information and scholarship application. If you have any questions please
see Mr. Lindley. Applications deadlines for all scholarship are March
1, 2009.
• The Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Illinois
are pleased to announce the continuance of their scholarship program.
Applicants need not be affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd
Fellows, but must be a resident of Illinois and a citizen of the United
States. Applications may be found at http://www.ioof-il.org. Applications
must be fully completed and postmarked BEFORE March 1, 2009. Please
allow ample mail time for delivery.
